DocAir Flood Recovery Services

Mold Assessment, Removal, Abatement, Treatment, Final Testing and Certification

  • Assessment - a DocAir professional will provide a free onsite assessment of potential mold damage and, if warranted, submit a written proposal to solve the problem.
  • Removal, Abatement, Treatment and Prevention - once a proposal has been accepted, a DocAir professional will clean the wall cavity, safely kill and remove existing mold, and treat all exposed wood framing and drywall at or below the flood line with Borate Acid to prevent future growth of mold. Borates offer effective protection against bacterial degradation and fungi. Although toxic to fungi and insects, they are only minimally toxic to humans and other mammals. Borates are odorless and do not vaporize. Structural properties of the wood are not affected. This is a significant advantage when compared with treatments such as bleach, which are commonly applied by other contractors, and will protect only until the chemical in the product evaporates.
  • Final Testing - a DocAir professional will test the exposed wood studs and drywall to verify that the moisture content of the wood is below the level which mold will grow, this testing should be done prior to the installation of new drywall.
  • Certification - based upon the results of the testing DocAir will issue a certification letter signed by Certified Industrial Hygienist that any mold has been properly removed, treated, and tested according to protocols. This certification letter should be placed in the property file by the homeowner and may be required as a part of a home inspection if the home is ever sold.

This is a great window of opportunity to make a more efficient and hygienic home by sealing the building envelope.

  • Lower heating and cooling bills
  • Higher resale value
  • Better air quality

  • Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rating- based upon the results from the blower door and other testing DocAir can provide a HERS, positive HERS rating relate not only to lower energy bills but higher resale value as well.
